Rupert Smoker

Chief Executive Officer

Rupert founded Evolution Trustees in 2016 with a view to creating a corporate trustee whose focus was on providing market leading client service through expertise and professional passion. Prior to this he was the head of the corporate trustee business (Responsible Entity and Managed Investment Trusts) within The Trust Company Limited which was an ASX listed professional fiduciary business that was subsequently, acquired in 2013 by Perpetual Limited.

Rupert was then appointed the Head of Responsible Entity Services at Perpetual Limited, in that role, he oversaw the integration of two operating teams in a business with over 50 mandates and $14 billion in funds under supervision. Rupert started his career in a variety of legal roles at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission culminating in his role as a Senior Manager, responsible for regulating responsible entities in NSW and Queensland. He holds Bachelors degrees in Law and Commerce, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance, is a Fellow of FINSIA and a legal practitioner admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of NSW.

Ben Norman

Chief Operating Officer

Ben is a qualified Chartered Accountant, with over 16 years of professional and industry experience. Prior to joining Evolution Trustees, Ben was a Director in Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services division, where he spent over 9 years working on numerous due diligence and restructuring engagements with clients in all industry sectors.

Other roles Ben previously held include as Chief Operating Officer of a boutique funds manager, Group Accountant within the ASX listed Hastings Diversified Utilities Fund and a Senior Accountant focusing on taxation and advisory services with an accounting firm that later merged with PwC.

 

Paul Adamiak

Senior Manager – New Business

Paul is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a broad financial services industry experience. Prior to joining Evolution Trustees, Paul was an associate director within the global fund services business TMF Group’s alternative investments service line. During his 11-year tenure at TMF, he held various sales, operations & product development roles. He spent his first 8 years in Europe as a team leader overseeing client services & relationship management. In 2017 he returned home to develop the private equity real estate administration services.

Paul started his career within the business services team of a large accounting firm and later worked as a financial accountant within the structured finance team of an Australian listed investment bank.

Luke McSpeerin

Senior Operations Manager

Luke has spent several years as financial services manager entrusted with developing partnerships with both new and existing businesses. Prior to joining Evolution, Luke worked for the Mainstream Group and State Street holding the positions of unit pricing team leader, custody team leader and client service manager. In his custody role, Luke was charged with overseeing the growth and development of the newly formed business unit. Luke holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Léa Manel

Senior Compliance Manager

Léa holds a master’s degree in Financial Management which she obtained in the European University Centre in Nancy, France. She has worked several years in securities services in Luxembourg for HSBC, European Fund Administration Private Equity / Real Estate and BNP Paribas. She has deep experience with European fund structures, both in UCITS funds (SICAV, FCP) and alternative investment funds (SIF, SICAR, SOPARFI). Léa has experience in both operations and compliance.

Masri Huuck

Senior Custody Manager

Masri Huuck is an experienced custody manager with over 10 years’ professional experience in banking, financial control and treasury operations. Over her career, Masri has worked for several large international organisations and supported significant institutional clients. Most recently, Masri worked in the Custody teams at both Perpetual Limited and The Trust Company. Masri’s responsibilities include direct management of client banking requirements, financial controlling, corporate financial management and business strategy and development. Masri has tertiary qualifications in financial accounting and is a founding member of the Evolution Trustees team.

David Grbin

Non-Executive Chairman

David was the former Chief Financial Officer and Group Executive, Corporate Clients at The Trust Company. He has significant corporate trustee experience and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of an ASX-listed company. David pioneered the development of a single regional corporate trustee offering across the capital markets of Australia, Singapore and New Zealand and, the development of managed investment trusts to facilitate significant foreign investment flows into Australian commercial property and infrastructure assets.

Sandy Calder

Non-Executive Director

Since qualifying as a lawyer in 1988, Sandy has worked for a number of leading fund management houses, both in Australia and abroad. Mr Calder’s previous experience includes positions as Chief Operating Officer of RF Capital, Managing Director of Calibre Capital Limited, a property funds management business he co-founded in 2004, CEO of Principal Real Estate Investors (Australia) Limited managing a $2.2 billion real estate portfolio, Head of Property Securities and Head of Listed Property of Colonial First State Investment Managers (Australia) Limited. Sandy has been a director of numerous real estate company boards.
